Lightly butter a square of foil; set aside. In small nonstick skillet, heat walnuts, 3 tablespoons of the maple syrup and the butter over medium-low heat. Cook until syrup boils and coats walnuts, stirring constantly to avoid burning. When all of the syrup has coated the nuts, spread on foil and sprinkle with salt. In medium bowl, mix beans, apple, celery and cranberries. In small bowl, whisk remaining 2 tablespoons maple syrup, the oil, vinegar and shallot. Pour over bean mixture. Divide among 6 lettuce-lined plates. Top with walnuts.
